When faced with a shelf full of cooking oils in the supermarket, the usual debate boils down to canola oil vs. vegetable oil.
This question proceeds from the assumption that vegetable oil is on the same level as canola, when in fact, vegetable oil is the umbrella category of any oil derived from plants, whether such plant produces a fruit or a vegetable.
